Born in France, of Senegalese-Malian origin, she arrived in Quebec in 2014 and settled in Sherbrooke. As a nurse for CIUSSSE de l’Estrie, she is notably involved in the implementation of the Equité-Diversité-Inclusion (EDI) policy for CIUSSSE de l’Estrie establishments in 2021.
In 2020, seeing the lack of cultural initiatives for the Afro-descendant community in the region, Aïssé launched the Blackestrie platform in Sherbrooke.
Blackestrie’s mission is to promote Black culture in the region. Blackestrie is now a recognized NPO under the direction of Aïssé, and organizes socio-cultural activities. The organization offers the program “Personne n’en Parle,” which tackles current affairs and social issues and is broadcast on Ma Tv Sherbrooke and Ma TV Granby.
