Why get involved?

To be a member of a research group is to engage in a process of citizen participation, actively contributing to a collective reflection on social realities. It’s a way of taking part in a transformation project aimed at building a more just, equitable and inclusive society.

Contribute to concrete research

About the realities facing Afro-descendants in Quebec.

Your experience counts

What's involved?

5 meetings between May 2025 and March 2026 (some face-to-face, others in hybrid mode)

⏱️ Approximately 7 hours per meeting (including meeting and preparation time)

💰 $200 flat-rate compensation per meeting

📚 You’ll receive support and tools for every step of the way

📣 No diploma required – your experience counts

What will you actually do?

Identify priority issues to be documented.

You’ll take part in discussions to collectively define which problems, realities or experiences deserve to be studied.

Each group produces a deliverable (analysis report, educational or popular science document, data visualization tool, etc.) used to influence intervention policies and practices.

The Observatory team is responsible for producing the chosen deliverable. It proposes a methodology adapted to the orientations given by the research group and the resources available for the project. You will have to react to the team’s proposals.

You’ll follow the project by sharing your thoughts during and between meetings. Together with the other members of the group, you’ll be responsible for validating the collectively chosen deliverable.
