Thomas Lalime

Ph.D. Economics | Economic Analyst

Holder of a Ph.D. in Economics from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM), with a thesis on household savings and financial literacy in Canada, Thomas Lalime specializes in microeconomics, development economics, project evaluation, and microeconometrics. He worked in the Haitian public administration from 2004 to 2008 while teaching at several universities in Port-au-Prince.

He was a lecturer at the Department of Economics at UQÀM from 2012 to 2016. He worked at Revenu Québec from 2017 to 2020 before joining Statistics Canada as an economic analyst. He also worked as an economic journalist for the Haitian daily newspaper Le Matin from 2004 to 2008 and has been an economic columnist for the newspaper Le Nouvelliste since March 2012.

In 2014, Thomas Lalime published the book titled “Haitian Economy: A Radiograph of a Disaster,” in which he diagnoses the Haitian socio-economic reality and proposes solutions to overcome the current economic stagnation.
