Bélinda Bah is a sociologist and manager, with a diploma from the Institut d’Études Politiques de Toulouse, a master’s degree in public administration from Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and a doctorate in sociology from Université de Montréal. She is passionate about the political, community and individual issues surrounding migration dynamics in a globalized world. Her thesis explores the cultural citizenship of international immigrants to Montreal, examining the construction of their civic identity. Before and during her PhD, she worked as a professional and consultant on socio-economic projects targeting international immigrants or vulnerable youth, in Haiti, Ecuador and West Africa.
Today, she devotes her time to social research carried out with the people and organizations involved. As director of the Observatoire des communautés noires du Québec of the Sommet Jeunes Afro, she leads an innovative initiative that values different types of knowledge to solve complex social problems.
